Here we go again! Watching nature pack away the summer and bring out the new decor "Fall". This is my favorite time of the year because the change is so dynamic and happens right before your eyes. The new color pallet on the foliage; the changes in temperature that produce a crisp, gentle breeze that's almost medicinal in its impact on those suffering from allergies; the changes in the soil that make it the most fertile time for planting new trees and shrubs; the new programs debuting on the TV as the new Fall line up!
I remember so many good things happening in the fall and I look forward to it every year for that reason. These past Fall times have provided me time for reflection. I think back on where I was emotionally and physically in the previous year. I'm happy to say that I can really see the progress I've made in my journey to move forward into my "new normal" without my beloved husband Mike at my side.
It's been 5 years since I lost Mike. I miss him like I've never missed "anything or anyone" EVER! That's a change in my life that I don't look forward to. Some days are better than
others and some are worse. When I see my kids getting older and living their lives working, traveling, growing, and maturing, it makes me think about all the things we used to do as a couple and all the changes we went through to continue moving forward in our life and pursuing our hopes and dreams together.
It's going to take me a while to reconcile my emotions to my lifestyle now that I don't have anyone to share it with. Some folks have told me that it just takes time, but you still have to push through and keep it moving so you don't get into a rut. I am trying hard to do that and I vow everyday that I'm here on this earth to continue putting one foot in front of the other and keeping a positive attitude and staying hopeful and faithful.
If you have any advice that you can share on how you are finding your footing again and moving forward into your new normal, would you please share it with us, here in this safe community space for healing? We look forward to hearing from you!! God bless you!
